Ahmedabad, 4th August 2026: AdaniConneX, a joint venture between the Adani Group and EdgeConneX and one of India's fastest-growing data center developers, has partnered with DE-CIX India, a leading interconnection platform operator, to establish a new point of presence (PoP) at its Chennai 1 data center in the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) region.
As India's digital economy expands, the speed and efficiency with which data moves are becoming as important as physical transport networks. The new interconnection hub will allow businesses, cloud providers and telecom operators to exchange data closer to where it is consumed, improving the performance and reliability of digital services used every day by millions of people and enterprises.
The development comes as enterprises, cloud providers and digital platforms increasingly seek low-latency, high-performance infrastructure to support data localisation, cloud adoption and increasingly data-intensive applications across India.
Often described as India's digital gateway to the world, Chennai is home to several international subsea cable landing stations that connect the country to major global internet routes. Combined with a rapidly growing data center ecosystem, this has made the city a critical hub for cloud services, digital businesses and international data traffic.
As cloud computing, video streaming, digital commerce and other data-intensive services drive unprecedented growth in information flows, the need for locally interconnected infrastructure has become increasingly important. Strengthening local interconnection reduces the distance data must travel, helping improve speed, reliability and overall network efficiency.
If data centers are the factories of the digital economy, interconnection platforms are the highways that allow information to move efficiently between them. As businesses increasingly rely on real-time digital services, the quality of these connections becomes a key determinant of performance.
Through the new deployment, customers at Chennai 1 will gain direct access to DE-CIX India's internet exchange, cloud connectivity and enterprise networking services. By allowing data to be exchanged closer to where it is generated and consumed, the collaboration is expected to improve performance, reduce latency and enhance user experience across digital services.
DE-CIX India operates internet exchanges across major Indian cities, including Mumbai, Delhi National Capital Region (NCR), Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. The Chennai deployment extends DE-CIX India's national interconnection ecosystem, enabling customers to connect with more than 600 networks, including telecom operators, internet service providers, content platforms and global cloud companies.
